The Rolf 10 Series of Structural Integration is a systematic sequence of theory and technique that Ida Rolf referred to as The Recipe. It consists of 10 sessions (spaced 1 week to 1 month apart) that build upon each other and seek to thoroughly reorganize patterns of strain and dysfunction in the body. This series can be considered the foundation of Structural Integration.
Session 1.
Quality of breath is enhanced with work on the arms, ribcage, chest, and diaphragm.
Session 2.
A stable foundation is encouraged by organizing the tissues of the foot and the lower leg.
Session 3.
A lateral midline, from cranium to pelvis, helps to establish a balanced front-to-back relationship.
Session 4.
A sense of core is initiated by lengthening the inner legs, from the feet to the base of the pelvis.
Session 5.
Core integrity is cultivated by balancing both surface and deep abdominal tissue with the low back.
Session 6.
Focus on the posterior legs, hips, and lumbars help support a balanced sacrum and pelvis.
Session 7.
A "breathing cranium" is encouraged with work on the neck, scalp, and on the inside the mouth.
Session 8.
Sessions 8 and 9 and 10 are integrative sessions that reference work from previous sessions.
Session 9.
Sessions 8 and 9 and 10 are integrative sessions that reference work from previous sessions.
Session 10.
A sense of order, balance, and completion is achieved with integrative techniques unique to each individual.
